Natural Flu Prevention

There are a lot of natural remedies we rely on when we get sick, but of course the best thing during flu season is to take simple measures to prevent getting sick in the first place. Starting with proper nutrition that doesn't hinder your immune system, there are quite a few favorites around here. Among them are vitamin D, echinacea, honey, garlic, and lemon. I wrote more details on how we actually use these throughout the fall and winter in the Natural Prevention for Flu Season article below that I wrote for Thanks Mama. I can attest to the fact that this stuff really works!

Being pregnant and sick is even less fun, you're already uncomfortable - how can it be even more so. I also have some tips I previously posted about treating a cold or flu during pregnancy that I hope are helpful. I would never take any drugs through pregnancy (or ever), but there are plenty of natural remedies that work just as well if not better.

  1. These are great tips! I was surprised when I found out about it just a couple years ago that getting some local honey helps keep allergies at bay. We've been getting some every year and surprise, surprise = no allergies for us.

  2. I relied on vitamin C, honey, and green tea for flu prevention while pregnant! I didn't get the flu at all while pregnant :)
