Motherhood is...

"Motherhood is the constant moving of mountains."

That's what came to mind today as I stared at a pile of clothing to sort. As mothers we move mountains every day. Mountains of laundry, mountains of toys, mountains of dishes, mountains of tantrums.

Sometimes these mountains seem so big, but we know if we don't move them - nobody else will.

Imagine if moms stopped moving these mountains. Imagine if we took the back seat just to see what would happen.

Imagine if we stopped doing laundry, making meals, and putting the toys away. Just imagine for a moment if all mothers of the world would stop doing these things. Stop changing diapers.

It would be chaos! Anarchy! Filth! Hunger!

What you do every day matters. It really does. You power the world, dear mothers. Your work may seem invisible - until you stop doing it.

You are raising presidents, inventors, entrepreneurs, teachers, volunteers, doctors, police officers...

Keep moving those mountains mamas, the world needs you!

  2. Sigh... I wish someone other than another mother would think this way. I am a stay at home mom and my stepkids think that while they are at school, I watch tv and nap... haha I try to tell them all I do for my toddler, the house cleaning, the cooking, the laundry, the grocery shopping, the bill paying, etc., but they still don't seem to get it. Oh, and I have taken a day off every once in a while, but come home to complete chaos!
