2009 Etsy Holiday Gift Guide

It is sad that most holiday money will be spent on all things plastic, synthetic, and mass produced. Does it have to be that way? Of course not, that's what Etsy is for! Thousands of creative individuals and their creations so easily accessible in one place. This holiday season you can support these artists and get something truly unique for your friends and family. Here at Eco-Babyz we have compiled a small list of great Etsy shops that we think you should check out.

1. Le Petit Owlet features wonderful wool soakers (left) and longies (right) from re-purposed sweaters. You will also find handmade cloth diapers and some unique jewelry. Custom orders welcome! Thank you so much for sending us a pair of longies, baby E loves them (can you tell from the photo?) and she'll be nice and warm this New England winter thanks to Le Petit Owlet.

2. Xenotees clothing will please both kids and adults on your list. You'll find many fun and unique screen printed designs such as the Collective Names of Animals (left) and the Japanese Star Moss (right). Xenotees is a member of Etsy for Animals.

3. At Mom Baby Me you will find great one of a kind diaper bags and upcycled items such as the newborn hat shown here. They also make crib blankets, tummy time pillows, and burp cloths. If you have a mother-to-be on your list there are some great nursing pads as well. For all the ladies you'll find handmade purses and totes to match.

4. Gus and Ollie is based in Germany and has something for everyone who is a child at heart. Their handmade sock monkeys are so adorable! The quality shines through every one of them. Plus you can choose from bunnies, tooth monsters, and egg heads. There are also some cute baby onesies and t-shirts.

5. Bebe and Alice has a few things that a mom or hostess will appreciate receiving. Their unique, handmade, slow fashion pieces have even more character than your grandma decked out in holiday attire. How about a cute apron or a scarflette? These pieces will bring out the vintage fashionista in anyone. Well, except maybe your husband.

6. Golden Needle Creation will help you say 'no' to mass produced stuffed toys and dolls. These beautiful knit creations will spark the imagination of any child on your list. Quality that can be passed on from generation to generation. I just want to cuddle with that bunny right now!

7. Tiny Belles Boutique creates amazing little tutus for girls from 0 to 100. Well, maybe it will not look that adorable on your grandma, but even your 10 year old ballerina would love one. The hair clips will top off the girly look. This boutique is going on vacation December 16th, but who said you can't give presents after Christmas? There is always NewYears ;)

8. Yarnabees crochet creatures are made by a mom of seven who puts her passion into these adorable creations. These little sheep, duckies, teddy bears, bunnies, snowmen, and birds will warm everyone's heart. In addition you'll find bibs, wrist warmers, and scarves/cowl neck warmers.

  1. These are all so cute! I've been wanting to buy a tutu for my little one, but I am afraid my big girl would be jealous. Maybe I could get one in the big girl's size. Great post!
