Innobaby Keepin' Fresh Kids Stainless Drinking Cup Review

Two years ago we lost Baby E's sippy cup at an air show with thousands of people in attendance. Since then we've lived without one and she graduated to an 'adult' reusable stainless bottle with a straw. Now that Baby T is interested in drinking on his own, I really needed something for him. I saw the Innobaby kids stainless drinking cup and thought it was perfect. We were sent the 12 oz cup in blue alligator planet print for review.

We had plenty of time to test it out and even took it on our road trip to Washington D.C.! I love this particular size because for a walk around the neighborhood it is big enough for both my kids to drink out of (so I don't need to stuff two bottles into the stroller plus my own), and for longer day trips (zoo, beach, museum, etc) it is big enough for Baby T alone with no need for refilling.

We love that this cup is leak proof when closed. I can just toss it in the diaper bag and not worry about anything getting wet. However, word of warning, it does not have a leak proof valve for when it is open - like some sippy cups do. The opening will have the water free flowing  into your child's mouth. So it may not be a good idea to give it to a curious young child unsupervised, it can easily be all poured out. It may also be used with a supplied silicone straw, which my toddler loves. I also love that the top just snaps on and you don't have to twist it. I can never get those screw on tops straight! We have only used it with water, so it is always easy to clean. But no matter what you put in it, it's very simple to wash, to take apart and to put it together. Here is the breakdown:

Overall I highly recommend it to be used independently for kids one year old and up, or with supervision if they are younger. With my 6 month old, I obviously have to help him out to use it. My 3.5 year old can use it completely independently, it's perfect for that age. As with children of all ages, they like to drop and throw things, and it looks like this Innobaby stainless cup is designed well to withstand that, the plastic sleeve protects the cup from dents and after a couple of drops so far it hasn't cracked or showed signs of any damage. It's also great to protect little hands from cold liquids and to keep the temperature of the drink longer. I did actually discover that one of the hinges on the lid cracked, I didn't know how it happened but I suspect that it was a curious little nephew that sneaked it our of my diaper bag and started twisting the hinges. We were promptly sent a replacement lid and assured that this happens very rarely - if not the only time it happened.

We love the simple design and the available colors. We picked the blue planet alligator one, but I also love the gender neutral orange and green, and for princesses there is always pink! They also have matching stainless bento boxes. Innobaby has a variety of smart baby products, I am also a fan of the glass food storage containers.

  10. Looks really good. Also, if you are ever wondering how to get straws cleaner, a little soap on a pipe cleaner works great!

  12. I love the protective sleeve! My stainless steel drinking bottle always has condensation, which gets everything else in the diaper bag wet, even if it doesn't leak.

  13. I could use these for camping when it's hot or when I take my children fishing. I normally hate sippy cups because they're so hard to wash and I like that they're stainless steal the best. It tends to not hold odor.

  20. It's nice to see a stainless steel option for little ones. My DS is too young for this yet but I'm glad to see this is out there and I'll know for when it's time for him to use a sippy cup.

  23. I have a 4.5 month old, so I still have a few months before we really start using sippy cups, but its good to always start reviewing products before you need them! I like anything with stainless steel - it doesn't leave the same metal taste the way other materials do.

    1. I don't think every toddler would be able to do it, but an extra curious one would :)
