Welcome Baby: Binsi Labor and Birth Apparel Review

When I gave birth to my first at the hospital, I wore one of those unsightly and annoying hospital gowns. Those first pictures with a newborn, ugh, why do they make us wear it? I'm glad Binsi contacted me to try their fabulous labor and birth apparel. This time around it's a little different since I'm giving birth at a small birth center and aiming for a water birth. I need to be comfortable and obviously a hospital gown doesn't live up to that word for many reasons both functional and aesthetical.

I was sent the Prima Mama Original birth skirt and a Go Go birth top for review. No, I haven't worn it for the actual birth yet, we'll let you know how that goes. Meanwhile, it is very comfy for pregnancy and both these pieces are great worn throughout the nine months. The skirt is super adjustable, although I was surprised at how large the xsmall size is. It is huge on me, but thanks to the drawstring waist I can still comfortably wear it - just wish there wasn't so much extra fabric for this particular size. So if you're buying one, I would suggest sizing down. It is very versatile and can be worn anywhere, nobody will point and say you're wearing a 'birth skirt'! The Go Go top is likewise comfortable, I like wearing it around the house like a sports bra - especially when it was more than 80 degrees in the house. It is made of breathable cotton with a little lycra for stretch and support. The small/medium size fit fine, but I wish there were more sizing options for someone tiny like me.

The Prima Mama skirt retails for $65, but they do have other options at $55 and $35. The Go Go top is priced at $40. There is also a tankini type top as another option for $45. For most of us this is perhaps more than you would want to spend on an outfit for birth, but considering how much someone spends on a wedding gown... Birth is a one-time event (with every baby), but it sure is special - look your best!
