When we first tried Ecobubs on my toddler we were very impressed. Why haven't I thought of making a wool pocket diaper? It is so convenient, easy to use, and a brilliant idea. We are very excited to announce that Ecobubs is coming to the U.S.! That's right, New Zealand's best kept nappy secret is coming here, finally! We will keep you posted on the details. Meanwhile... For this review we were sent a small Ecobubs wool nappy for our coming newborn (and one for a giveaway).
Materials: This wool pocket diaper provides the best of both worlds. The wool on the outside keeps it breathable, the microfiber interior and insert keep baby dry and are easy to wash. The Ecobubs inserts are absolutely awesome, no other insert I've tried absorbs so much and so well! I always go to that insert no matter which pocket diaper I put it in, it's my standard for night time and long car trips.
Sizing: Ecobubs are sized diapers. I realize that for most of us, this may be cost prohibitive. Each size has three snap settings, so there's a little wiggle room. Actually, my toddler has been in the same setting for over half a year and hasn't grown out of them. I'm holding my breath for when they come up with a one-size design! I love the fit, but I find it isn't very snug around my toddler's skinny thighs (one size down would probably fix this). This wouldn't have been a problem for her as an infant because she was a really chubby breastfed baby!
Value: Since these are sized, you may not be able to get a whole stash of Ecobubs for $39.95 each. But consider these a perfect overnight option, they absorb a lot. This is one of the diapers I can leave my toddler in for 8+ hours and not worry about her bum being wet! These are great for long trips as well. Buying Ecobubs in packs of 3, 6, and 12 also saves you 5%, 10%, and 20% respectively.
About: Ecobubs was launched in New Zealand five years ago. They have since come up with the Wool Pocket Nappy and it has recently been improved with a better design. With such a great design team, I can't wait to see what else they have in store for new products in the coming years!
Come back to Eco-Babyz later this fall/winter for our account of how each Newborn Fluff product worked for us.
