Baby Cargo 300 Series Stroller Review

The longer I am a mom, the more I appreciate compact baby gear. Living in a small space forces you to reconsider what you really need. So I've been enamored with umbrella strollers lately for their space saving features and light weight. This is the Baby Cargo 300 lightweight umbrella stroller, high on style and low on space that it will steal from you! Without skimping on features, the Baby Cargo 300 is designed to make parenting easier.

Come back tomorrow (8/28/12) to enter to win one at Eco-Babyz!

The Baby Cargo 300 is great for babies from birth to 50 pounds. As you can see, there is a lot of room for my almost-four-year-old. It's certainly roomier than most umbrella strollers, I think it would even fit me if not for the weight limit! It's also great for the 9 month old Baby T, who is much larger than Baby E was at his age.

The recline is suitable for a newborn, even though it isn't completely flat, it's just about as flat as an infant car seat, if not more so. What we really love about the recline is how easy it is to adjust with just one hand, something I can't do on my current stroller. Another neat thing? We accidentally discovered that when my toddler was in it, reclined all the way and buckled in, the back adjusted to sitting up position on its own when she sat up! You just hear this really soft 'click' and it is back to sitting up position. So when your toddler is done napping they can sit up on their own and you'll know they woke up.

When the stroller is reclined, you can't really access the storage basket from the back as you can see below. In the above photo though you can see there is enough room to reach in from the mesh side even with the recline all the way down. There is enough room for a small diaper bag, or just some snacks and a diaper clutch. It also comes with a rain cover which is very handy, especially if you live on the west coast! But even here in the east, there have been many times I wished I had a rain cover. It's really easy to slip on, just takes one minute.

Here is also a short video or our favorite stroller features and highlights!

When folded, the Baby Cargo 300 takes up very little space on a tiny footprint. It will fit in an apartment closet without any trouble! The fold itself is typical of a full feature umbrella style stroller fold. You need two hands, but it's not hard as you can see in the video. Love that it locks automatically when folded! It has a carry handle and strap, so you can either wear it over your shoulder or carry it like a briefcase. The ease of maneuverability is great too, this is a smooth ride and it is easy to steer even if you have just one hand available. We also love the little details like the brass zippered pocket in the back for your keys and phone (and my 'to do list' with a pen). The parent cup holder is pretty handy and we love, love the fabric, it's one of my favorite fabrics I've ever seen on a stroller!

I recommend checking out the Baby Cargo 300 if you're in the market for an umbrella stroller. It retails for $179.99, and if you need something with less bells and whistles, they also have the even lighter weight 200 series (at 13.7 lbs) and 100 series (11.9 lbs) strollers.

As with all products, there is some room for improvement. I would love to see more canopy coverage, which seems to be pretty limited and I would not be able to use this without an aftermarket product like the SnoozeShade for example. It would also be nice if the storage space underneath could be lowered just a tad, it looks like there is so much room below the storage basket that could be used for storage (though that might not be possible because it will sag when there is something in it). Some umbrella strollers don't even have storage, so this is great!

    ReplyDelete
  41. That's awesome! I don't know how or why people deal with those ridiculous SUV-type strollers you see all the time - they must all live in hangars and only use them in secluded areas where there are no other pedestrians!

I'll be making the drive alone because my husband is securing a job and housing for us. Its going to be an experience, and i need to know i can keep my 2 year old close while out of the car. 73. Fist off, great photos! I think this would be perfect for my little man. He's 3, but weighs 42lbs. He's also really tall & overall, about the size of a 5yr old! He hasn't fit in regular umbrella strollers for well over a year. He's maintained a weight between 39-42lbs for a year & a half, so even at 1 1/2, he was a bit big in a standard 35lb weight limit stroller. How cool that you guys "accidentally" found out that the seat goes into a sitting position upon lifting up! That sounds handy! One less step to putting it away :) Thanks for the great review!

  126. I am all about being comfortable ans stylish and it is so hard with a baby! BUT some how this company has pulled it off! i love it, the stroller is light weight and modern! I also love the canopy, with a lot of umbrella type strollers the shade is pretty much worthless, it doesn't hit correctly and doesn't block the sun! this blocks the sun and the rain, and has a easy to store and carry rain shield that doesn't take up a lot of space on the go

    ReplyDelete
  127. Great review! This looks like a great giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  128. Looks like a stroller with the ease and convenience of an umbrella stroller with the comfort of a regular stroller -- very nice!

  137. I'm loving the fact that it comes with a rain cover, can recline, and has storage underneath. The current umbrella stroller I have is from when I had dolls as a child...lets just say that was a long time ago and umbrella strollers have come a long way! I hate that the sun blares down on my little guys' head too...it's nice that it has a canopy even if it's not big. A small canopy is better than no canopy!

    ReplyDelete
  138. OMG That carry strap is an awesome feature! Someone was really thinking!
