Here is how it is with babies. You buy something for them or receive a gift, you use it and you discover it doesn't serve its purpose very well. You move on to the next product, the next one, and so on. It is hard to find the things that you only need to buy once and you're all set. Well, I've found one that I think you'll love! We've had our share of blankets, but they are always either too warm, too light, too toxic, or too small. This, my friends, is the perfect blanket. So perfect in fact I want to wrap myself in it just thinking about it!
QUALITY & COMFORT: Among many reasons why this is the only blanket you'll need is the fact that it is made of organically grown merino wool. This incredible natural fiber will keep your little one warm in the winter and cool in the summer (thanks sheep!). Skip polyester my friends, nothing regulates heat better than this. Right now it is spring and it's 70 degrees Fahrenheit in our bedroom. Sometimes it gets cooler in the morning - cool enough to make me hide under the covers. Our girl snoozes comfortably with this blanket, not sweating or shivering, it's perfect. I have the peace of mind knowing that there are no flame retardant chemicals on it and no pesticides. What more can a mom ask for?
I also love wool because it is sustainable, naturally mold and mildew resistant, and naturally fire retardant. It is non-allergenic - if you think you are allergic to wool, most likely you were exposed to commercially produced wool that is treated with chemicals and pesticides. Try organic wool from small distributors, it will be a different story. Oh, by the way, organic wool is not itchy at all! It's soooo soft!
EASE OF CARE: Wool is easier to take care of than you think. No, you don't have to take it to the dry cleaners. That would ruin it with all the toxic chemicals they use. Unless you actually get it soiled and dirty, it stays clean on it's own! It doesn't absorb smells and it is naturally water repellent. I find that all I really need is just a cold water rinse once every couple of months, especially if you use an organic duvet over it. Then I hang it to dry on a rack indoors.
VALUE: Considering this is an all weather, year round organic blanket, $78 is a great price. It is generously sized covering the entire crib, so it is perfect all the way through the toddler years until the baby is ready for a big kid bed. It also doesn't wear out like other blankets that you constantly need to wash. I still remember my wool blanket that I had when I was a child. It always looked like new!
COMPANY: You can feel good about buying from Naturallygood.net. Their meticulously hand picked selection of natural and organic home products is admirable. They also have some of the best prices I've come across online for products of such high caliber. They have some great educational articles as well to help you make the right choices with your purchases.
