Aspartame Research Ignored by FDA

This video that most likely was never aired, gives a good understanding of why, once again, the FDA fails to be an agency that protects the people. Many years ago the FDA ignored research that directly demonstrated aspartame as something not safe for consumption, or at least something that needed to be studied before being added to our food supply. All that research was ignored and so were the scientists, researchers, and doctors that advised of its dangers. Today you will find this artificial sweetener nearly on every shelf at the grocery store, nicely hidden in the ingredients that most don't think to look at and assume that anything sold as food is regulated by our government. It is a shame and an embarrassment that our government does not have strict regulations for food additives, moreover that it accepts 'legal' bribes from the industry to approve anything that turns up on the agenda in the name of the almighty dollar. Aspartame is 40% aspartic acid, 50% Phenylalanine, and 10% methanol by content. If you know anything about these substances, you know this should not be in food, not for adults, not for children.

An excerpt from a Dr. Mercola article clears up the implications of over 6,000 methanol containing products sold in grocery stores: "Methanol breaks down into formic acid and formaldehyde in the body. Formaldehyde is a deadly neurotoxin. An EPA assessment of methanol states that methanol "is considered a cumulative poison due to the low rate of excretion once it is absorbed. In the body, methanol is oxidized to formaldehyde and formic acid; both of these metabolites are toxic." They recommend a limit of consumption of 7.8 mg/day. A one-liter (approx. 1 quart) aspartame-sweetened beverage contains about 56 mg of methanol. Heavy users of aspartame-containing products consume as much as 250 mg of methanol daily or 32 times the EPA limit."

Please consider the implications of feeding yourself and your family aspartame containing products, it is not just something sweet, it is toxic and it is poison - enough said. All the needed research has been done, will the FDA ever do what it is supposed to? Looks like it is up to you to protect you family because they will not.
